Music

"Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts."

-Colossians 316

Music is an inspirational tool used to develop children's creativity and learning.

Christ Church’s children have the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments and are encouraged to practise their performance skills at concerts and festivals. We currently offer individual and group lessons in cornet, clarinet, flute, recorder, piano and keyboard.  We have a thriving School Choir who meet once a week and who perform regularly. Performances have included taking part in concerts at the O2 Arena and the Margate Winter Gardens. There is also a Recorder Club, Djembe Drumming Group and a Music Band who meet once a week and take part in many performances throughout the year.

Each child learns to play a musical instrument through whole class lessons. Currently, the children are learning Ocarina (Year 3), Recorder (Year 4) and Ukulele (Year 5) and Djembe (Year 6).

The children also sing as part of a whole school during weekly assemblies and Church services throughout the year. Class lessons are taught by a music specialist and include learning about composers, traditions and music notation. Children are also given the opportunity to apply their knowledge through composing their own music.
